True to the methodology

The lineage behind Sentinel Training

Learning from the best athletes, coaches and affiliate owners, we bring you what works through years of mentorship, hands-on experience and our own trial and error.

Coaching in affiliates since 2017, Taylor began his journey from the affiliate floor up. He started as a coach, eventually competing at some of the highest levels and training with CrossFit Games champions. From years of practical experience coaching under the watchful eyes of several Level 4 mentors to training with elite CrossFit Games athletes, we know what works and what doesn't.

Along the way, Taylor learned under several CrossFit Level 4 coaching mentors, the coaches and affiliate owners who shaped how Sentinel is written. Their standards for movement, variance and real coaching are built into every session.

What the lineage means for you: Every cycle and workout on Sentinel is written on that foundation. Purposeful variance. Intentional strength progressions. Fidelity to the methodology. When you subscribe, you're not signing up for a template — you're stepping into a lineage of coaching that's been passed down and sharpened, and is now being written for you.

The meaning behind "True to Roots"

The Methodology

A subscription is access to the full program — all three tracks, every library of notes, every cycle, every Master's prescription, and coaching on the movements that matter to you.

Why we're true to roots

The programming space has drifted. Fad conditioning, extended low-heart-rate blocks, and lazy strength cycles have replaced the constantly varied work the methodology was built on. Sentinel doesn't drift. The methodology earned its place, and every training day we write is answerable to it.

What "variance" means

Whiteboard grid of a week of training, Monday through Saturday, filled in with handwritten lifts and metcons.

Variance isn't chaos. Every session in Sentinel is programmed against the ones that came before it — movement patterns, energy systems, load, volume, duration and skill level. The result is variety for adaptation, not variety for its own sake.

What "functional" means

We move large loads, long distances, quickly. These are core-to-extremity, full range of motion, compound movement patterns that often mimic real-life scenarios and elicit a far greater neuroendocrine response than their non-functional counterparts.

What "broad time and modal domains" means

Short (sub-5 minutes). Medium (5–15). Long (15+). Aerobic, glycolytic, phosphagen. Machine, barbell, gymnastics. Sentinel trains all of it, in intentional rotation.
